A late Christmas gift for a dear friend...

I received an email from my dear friend Santi in Colombia last week. We were best friends during my master studies in Germany and luckily haven’t lost contact since then. He was telling that he wanted a Christmas gift from all the recipients of that email, which sounds very “Santistic” :) The gift was that he wanted us to meet in NY and send him a photo of us all together.  We managed to arrange a meeting with Greta who was in Colombia for a vacation and stopped by NY on her way back to Spain.

I invited her to one of my favorite wine bars in Downtown, Wine Spot which -to my surprise- was welcoming a live Flamenco show that night!  Well, to be honest it was awkward to greet a Spanish girl with a flamenco concert in NY which shouldn’t be that interesting to her I guess… But Greta was so sweet that she said she loved flamenco, hadn’t listened to it for a while and was happy to hear it again. We had a charming conversation for two hours, chatting about our intersection point Santi, our own personal histories, current aspirations in life and so on. This is one of the things that I love about NY; there are so many international people who pass by NY once in their lives, you happen to meet such people through other international friends and have the chance to listen to one another’s story. Then you say farewell to each other with that beautiful feeling of having earned a new acquaintance from another part of the world!  So thank you Greta for that special night, thank you Santi for requesting such a Christmas gift and above all thank you for my adorable Lola t-shirt and toy from Colombia!!! Love you…
